Essence Lime with Licorice @陈年老吉

Oh.....
Last weekend, l just met a friend from oversea. Her first time for a short trip in our nice warm country.
Cute of her surveyed what is worth to bring home from Malaysia. I was adored with her preparation and research she did. Just admiring to all who do deep research for a trip ( something I should learn).
She got this a "Must Buy List" ( don't know where she got it) & all by surprised, something that we daily see or use where nothing come to be special but incommon to them.
This "Essence Lime with Liquorice @ 陈年老吉" is GOOD... taste like the Kam Kut that we can find at most of the kopitiam but.....this one is so much fine and smooth..... It doesn't leave a bitter after-taste and purely refreshing.
This can be bought from The Tree Food Industries and easily found in the local food stores in Malacca.
" The increasing complexity of our modern lives seems to stir a deep need within for simplifying, slowing down, and reconnecting with the natural world. It is vital to make good diet choices. The simple act of brewing a perfect cup of Essence Lime tea ignites pleasurable anticipation of the goodness that is to follow. Feel free to experiment and let your palate to guide. You may also use as a sauce."
Preparation by diluting 1 part concentrate with 5 parts of water.
I think this can make fantastic pork ribs too.... stay tune and let's bombard the kitchen soon with this wonderful sauce....

Thai Sabye Sabye Restoran, Kelana Jaya @ Halal Chinese Double Boiled Soup

It was cooling after a huge downpour yesterday night. I was caught in the rain and thoughtfully, my friends brought me to a place for nice double boiled soup at Thai Sabye Sabye Restoran, Kelana Jaya. This restaurant used to be in Old Klang Road and just moved to Kelana Jaya for better demand.

No doubt, Thai restaurant should be famous for their thai food, but I found more interesting is that their menu consist of chinese double boiled soup. It was heavenly mouth watering after the huge downpour when soup can always bring us back to warm. My friend highly recommended them and with no regrets, immediately I want to share this with all of you (s).......

Double Boiled Vegetable Soup @  菜膽鸡汤
This is the best soup of all the soup they served here. One word "Jeang". As in view, you may see some boiled vegetables, dry bamboo shoots, dates and chicken. This soup tasted sweet and so flavored (tasted like long-boiled). I was cold and this has warmed my stomach and added my appetite towards more food. It wasn't too "gao"/ thick, and very suitable to someone who prefer lighter soup. It was not oily at all and I will definitely come for another bowl on my next visit.

Double Boiled White Fungus Pumpkin Soup @木耳蓝瓜鸡汤
This will be ladies best choice, as many of us knows that white fungus is rich with collagen. It was my first time trying white fungus cooked in a salty way as normally I used white fungus for sweet desserts. I personally recommend this to our ladies out there and not forgetting men, coz beauty should share among genders. This is a clear soup and won't add the space of your stomach. Its name best describe how it taste as fungus itself doesn't taste much but pumpkin's sweet riching the whole combination.

I tried few other types of the soups they are serving but didn't get the chance to take the nice shots. I shall say this restaurant is generous towards the ingredients they used for their food. You may try other soups, like Tian Qi Tang @ 田七鸡汤 (so tasteful with "tian qi" at the price of RM19 where you hardly find), Dang Shen Tang@党参鸡汤,and many more.

Price Range
RM15.00 - RM19.00 per pot; 1 pot can be a sharing for 2 pax

Why I recommend this place?
This is a PORK FREE restaurant. A lot of my muslim friends missed how mouth-watering chinese double boiled soup can be, and Restoran Thai Sabye Sabye has become a stop where the sharing can be so memorable. At the range of price, I shall say this restaurant is paying back what we are paying. My dearest Muslim friends, come let's try this out and you'll love it!

P/S: Little Self- Insights of Double Boiled Soup
Double boiled soup can be easily cooked as nothing much to look after, cause you may just put everything in and boil. Although it sounds easy, but yet there is a little bit "kung fu" needed to make taste exceptional delicious (unforgettable taste). Why I said so? The ingredients may be same, but might differ due to the time consumed for boiling; type of pot being used; the cuts of ingredients; and definitely some emotion of the person who is cooking it.

Double-boil soup can bring so many nutritional factors to the drinkers. Chinese believes that soup can be a charger to boost the appetite, immune, blood-circulation and other health benefits. If you wanna be happy go lucky person, start boiling and drink more soup today. Boiling it ourselves is always better to avoid any additional MSG.

Kung Fu Smooth Ban Mee @紅茶管手拉板面

One of the best ban mee in town, I named this. Kung Fu Smooth Ban Mee @ Taman Sri Sentosa, KL.

Exact location will be opposite the wet market and night market of Taman Sri Sentosa.

They are famous with the unique ban mee, where they are not only tearing it but also pulling into long flat noodles.

You may choose to order the noodles with soup or come in dried form with dark sauce. If you are asking me which one is nicer? I'll always say, you may try both as both are nice but depending on how you serve it.

The Kung Fu Noodles with Soup
Just nice if you like soup noodles. My suggestion to you is to crush the anchovies and serve in 5 mins. Each small bowl of noodles has 5 slaps of pull- noodles. The Anchovies are salty and if you crush them, beautifully they will disperse their wonderful taste. My tips for you, end the noodles soup with the chilly combination with lime. Add the mixed chilly sauce into your soup and wow....fantastic soup to end your meal.

The Dry Kung Fu Noodles
Tips: Just serve with 2 spoons of chilly sauce, squeeze the lime and serve hot.... Wow... Heavenly slurps.

You may serve the dry noodles with their chilly flake, but too salty. To enhance the flavour, ask them to add the mushroom with sauce. Serving this way will make you remember for many many days, and you'll be addicted.

This Noodles place also serve other noodles and with other side orders. No harm explore with your tongue and for a small eater for the day, I chose to end with only an additional of fu chok.

Try this place out. I shall share with you more with other nice place for ban mee ( my personal favourite).

Little Share
A small bowl has 5 slaps of noodles while big bowl has 7 slaps of noodles.

Price range from RM5.50-RM10.00

Lets give your feedback after you tried, ok..... Enjoy!!

Apple Chicken Soup

Today I'll be sharing some of the ideas how to make our life fullest without wastage. Few days back, my housemate complained that the green apples I bought was so soft and not crunchy at all, till then they were left in the fridge a.k.a abandoned.

Rightaway for a chilly weather lately, I have decided to make some hot soup to keep me and my housemates warm.

When I was still staying at home, there were lots of abandoned apples too. My mom used to buy at least 15pcs of apples or oranges for prayers' offering and they were abandoned after 15 days of display. My dad would have taken the apples and make his favourite dishes. One of the best I could remember was my dad did boiled apple chicken soup. This might sounds weird to you where green apples normally being used for desserts.

Try this out and this might a credit to you. This soup might enhance your appetite.

Ingredients@Portion of 4 pax

1. 4 green apples
2. 12 red dates
3. 10 slices of ginger
4. 500gm chicken breast (or other chicken portion that you like)
5. 2 ltr water
6. Salt to taste

Pot
4l Slow Cooker/ 4l Ceramic Pot/ 4l Stainless Steel Pot/ Preasure Cooker

This time I'm using Stainless Steel for a faster soup making. Time used was 1hr.

Method
1. Wash ingredients 1-4.
2. Cut all green apples into slices of 8 out of 1.
3. Put in all ingredients and boil for 1-2hrs
4. Ready to serve.

Tips: Boil a small pot of water to rinse the chicken to wash away the chicken smell that you may not like.

All the best for trying and do share your feedback after trying it.

Happy Cooking ^^

Kampar Chee Cheung Fun @ Restaurant TO, Pandan Perdana

Today I was caught in the rain. Stopped by at one of my convenient place for a fast lunch (Restaurant TO @Pandan Perdana, next to 7-Eleven).

Not many choices here, but heard that the Char Kuey Teow is the best here (a.k.a char tong). No doubt, from far I could hear " king chang king chang (the cooking sound of char kuey teow)".

By surprise, I was coming from the side way, till I was hooked by this wonderful aroma of bean sauce at the chee cheung fun stall and the char kuey teow's aroma was not outstanding at all. The chee cheung fun owner was heating up his sauce and WOW...!!!! Trust me... It's a long lost childhood aroma--authentically traditional flavoring.

The set-up of the chee chung fun stall wasn't eye-catching, but at the moment, I ordered 2 pieces of plain chee chung fun (rice noodles) just to taste how good is the sauce. And yes!!... That is the best sauce combination with chee cheung fun I have ever tried. The original taste of KL's chee cheung fun..The sauce is rich with the bean paste flavoring, taste with slow cooked with home-made glucose-malt.

I was shy to add on my eating-in, hence I ordered take away. Till then, I'll stop by this little chee cheung fun stall again for another try.
